Founded in 2009 by musical director Ewa Salecka & pianist Greg Birch Millegro offers a fresh approach to choral singing. With a distinct emphasis on contemporary living composers, world music and jazz, Millegro quickly established a reputation for delivering powerful choral concerts with an innovative programme of material - often including unusual music rarely heard in the UK.

In just 3 performing years the choir have brought this diversity to all major venues in York including the Theatre Royal, the Grand Opera House, the National Centre For Early Music. They sang at Newcastle Theatre Royal, stunning Selby Abbey and represented York at several Arts Festivals. Millegro has also been involved in many charity concerts raising hundreds of pounds each year.

In 2011 singers from Millegro & Prima Vocal Ensemble were invited by the Lord Mayor to perform at Barbican Theatre, providing the choral voice of York in celebration of the late John Barry. In October 2012 members of the choir recorded choral parts for the latest album by acclaimed Flamenco/ Gypsy/ Jazz guitarist & composer Eduardo Niebla, to be released this year.
